Noticed a small red bump on my African Grey's foot. Could this be bumblefoot? I have varied perch sizes but maybe not enough natural wood. What should I do? Is this a vet emergency or can I treat at home?

When I had to travel, I used Bird Sitting Toronto and they were incredible with my umbrella cockatoo. Daily updates with photos and everything.

Great question! So in my experience with lovebird, this usually comes down to a few things. First, getting natural java wood perches from a specialty bird store. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep β€” 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to dry winter air from forced-air heating because that was a huge factor for my Peaches. Hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing that experience! I showed this post to my bird and they looked at me with zero remorse. They know what they're doing.

Oh my bird did this for about about a month and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.

Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing the cage location in the room and just being really patient. They come around eventually.

I remember when my lineolated parakeet went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.

I've tried a bunch of brands and Harrison's pellets is hands down the best value. My Jasper devours it.

If you're in Oshawa, check out the avian vet on Yonge St. They're amazing with zebra finch specifically.
