For this I'd highly recommend Roudybush. My Hahn's macaw loves it and my vet approved it too.
I know everyone says keeping birds in their own environment is ideal, but honestly? A good boarding facility with experienced staff who monitor them all day is way better than a random sitter who checks in twice. My budgie actually thrived at BST when we went on vacation.
Have you noticed any other changes? When my parrotlet did this they were also being more vocal than normal.
This is one of those topics where I think there genuinely is no right answer. Both sides have valid points.
I remember when my lineolated parakeet went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.
So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is playing music during the day β my bird loves calm acoustic guitar. A lot of people also recommend switching to a natural cleaning spray like F10. My avian vet in Scarborough also suggested checking for boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck β feel free to DM me if you have questions!
I'm a newer bird owner and I know birds hide illness. What are the early warning signs I should be looking for with my caique? I want to catch problems before they become emergencies.
Great question! So in my experience with sun conure, this usually comes down to a few things. First, stuffing paper towel rolls with treats for foraging. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep β 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to the cage being in a high-traffic or drafty location because that was a huge factor for my Jasper. Hope that helps!
