Finding the Right Avian Vet
Not all vets see birds. Many general-practice vets have limited experience with avian patients. Always call ahead and ask specifically about the vet’s avian training and experience.
Questions to ask when booking:
- Does the vet have specific training in avian medicine?
- How many bird patients do they see per week?
- Can they handle my bird’s species (especially for larger parrots)?
- Do they offer emergency or after-hours avian care?
