This is one of those topics where I think there genuinely is no right answer. Both sides have valid points.
My sun conure Tiki has been super bitey the last week. Nothing changed in the environment that I can think of. Could it be hormonal? They're about 7 years old.
One thing that really helped was offering chop first thing in the morning when they're hungriest. Give it a try — can't hurt!
I got mine from a local bird shop in Burlington. Great selection and the staff actually knows about birds.
Interesting take! I see your point but I've had a completely different experience. My caique actually...
This reminds me of when I first got Raja. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.
Hmm, I'm on the fence about this one. Part of me agrees but then I think about my experience with Skittles and it doesn't quite line up.
I've done a ton of research on this because my parrotlet had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is hormonal season — spring is brutal. What worked for us was switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. I also started rotating toys weekly so they always have something "new" and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

This is so true. Had the exact same experience with Sky.
Nice to meet you! Always great to connect with fellow bird owners. You're going to fit right in here!
Did this start suddenly or was it gradual? When my sun conure did this it turned out to be dry winter air from forced-air heating.
My Pepper read this post over my shoulder and started nodding. I'm only slightly concerned.
My Amazon parrot Poppy has been super bitey the last week. Nothing changed in the environment that I can think of. Could it be hormonal? They're about 7 years old.

Been thinking about this thread all week. I've tried a few of the suggestions and spending at minimum 2 hours of supervised out-of-cage time daily was the game changer for us.
I've done a ton of research on this because my Amazon parrot had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation. What worked for us was switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. I also started reading "The Parrot Problem Solver" by Barbara Heidenreich and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
Update: took everyone's advice and things are improving. Echo is slowly coming around. This forum is the best.

Same here! Glad it's not just me lol.
