So what I ended up doing was rearranging the cage every couple weeks to prevent boredom. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.

I'd suggest trying using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.

I switched to TOP's pellets last year and haven't looked back. My Senegal parrot's feathers have never looked better.

What kind of cage setup do you have? Sometimes the environment is a factor.

So what I ended up doing was leaving the radio or TV on when I'm out β€” background noise helps. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.

I used to think the same thing until my caique proved me wrong. Now I'm firmly in the other camp.

I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to a dietary deficiency, especially calcium or vitamin A.

Hello from Vaughan!πŸ‘‹ Introduce Yourself

I've done a ton of research on this because my Quaker parrot had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is jealousy of a new person, pet, or even object in the home. What worked for us was keeping a super consistent daily routine β€” birds thrive on predictability. I also started setting up a webcam so I could check on them during the day and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

Hi everyone! I recently adopted a rescue zebra finch from a shelter near Roncesvalles. Their name is Storm (the shelter named them but it stuck). They're a bit shy and don't trust easily β€” no idea what their previous situation was. I want to give them the absolute best life possible. Any tips for helping a rescue bird settle in and learn to trust again?

Hey everyone! I'm from Oakville and I just brought home my first bird ever β€” a lineolated parakeet named Coco. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.
