So what I ended up doing was rearranging the cage every couple weeks to prevent boredom. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.

I switched to TOP's pellets last year and haven't looked back. My Senegal parrot's feathers have never looked better.
What kind of cage setup do you have? Sometimes the environment is a factor.
So what I ended up doing was leaving the radio or TV on when I'm out β background noise helps. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.

I've done a ton of research on this because my Quaker parrot had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is jealousy of a new person, pet, or even object in the home. What worked for us was keeping a super consistent daily routine β birds thrive on predictability. I also started setting up a webcam so I could check on them during the day and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
I used to think the same thing until my Amazon parrot proved me wrong. Now I'm firmly in the other camp.

Hi everyone! I recently adopted a rescue zebra finch from a shelter near Roncesvalles. Their name is Storm (the shelter named them but it stuck). They're a bit shy and don't trust easily β no idea what their previous situation was. I want to give them the absolute best life possible. Any tips for helping a rescue bird settle in and learn to trust again?

Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.
If you're in Barrie, check out the avian vet on Yonge St. They're amazing with Eclectus specifically.
When I had to travel, I used Bird Sitting Toronto and they were incredible with my Senegal parrot. Daily updates with photos and everything.
