Just learned that birds can see ultraviolet light that humans can't. This means their feathers look COMPLETELY different to each other than they do to us. Also means UV lighting in their room isn't just about vitamin D β€” they literally see the world differently under it. My lovebird's cage lamp just became essential.

Update: took everyone's advice and things are improving. Captain is slowly coming around. This forum is the best.

Have you tried target training first, then building up to step-up? That's what solved this issue for us. Game changer honestly.

My advice would be covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Went through the same thing with my Hahn's macaw last year.

Have you tried offering chop first thing in the morning when they're hungriest? That's what solved this issue for us. Game changer honestly.
