Quick rundown of toys I've gotten for my Hahn's macaw this year: BEST — a boing rope, lasted weeks and kept Poppy busy for hours. WORST — some overpriced plastic thing from Pet Valu that my bird was terrified of and I couldn't return. What are your best/worst buys?

Check out the pet section at Costco — they have exactly what you need and the prices are reasonable for the GTA.

When I had to travel, I used Bird Sitting Toronto and they were incredible with my budgie. Daily updates with photos and everything.

There's a great little shop in Hamilton that specializes in parrot supplies. Way better selection than the big chains.

My vet in Aurora suggested getting a kitchen scale and weighing them weekly to track health and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.

Totally agree with this! My Quaker parrot is exactly the same way.

My advice would be using a stainless steel cage with proper bar spacing for the species. Went through the same thing with my Hahn's macaw last year.

My vet in Kitchener suggested removing mirrors from the cage — can cause hormonal or aggressive behavior and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.

Have you tried using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist? That's what solved this issue for us. Game changer honestly.
