Best perches — natural wood options?

Want to replace the dowel perches that came with my Quaker parrot's cage. Where do you source natural wood perches in the GTA? Any safe woods I can collect from outside? What about rope perches — safe or not?

I could have written this post a year ago. Same situation, same frustration. Here's what I wish someone had told me: using a stainless steel cage with proper bar spacing for the species. Would have saved me weeks of stress.
