Yes!! My Sunny does this too. Eclectus owners can relate.
Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing the cage liner material and just being really patient. They come around eventually.
This!! So much this. Saving this post to show my partner.
Is this a new behavior or has it always been like this? Context might help figure it out.
I remember when my caique went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.
Yes!! My Peaches does this too. caique owners can relate.
Oh my bird did this for about about 10 days and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.
For this I'd highly recommend TOP's pellets. My lineolated parakeet loves it and my vet approved it too.
Reading this hit home. My sun conure went through the same phase around the same age. What helped us was putting treats inside paper cups, folded paper, or tissue for foraging. Also just accepting that birds are gonna bird, you know?
Hi! I'm new here but definitely not new to birds. My Senegal parrot Ruby has been my companion for 6 months and I honestly can't imagine life without them. Just moved to the Beaches recently and looking to connect with other bird owners in the area. Happy to be here!
This is so true. Had the exact same experience with Jade.
Welcome!! Looking forward to hearing more about your feathered friend. Don't be shy about asking questions!

Check out an avian specialty store — they have exactly what you need and the prices are reasonable for the GTA.
My blue and gold macaw has been on seeds their whole life (7 years). I know pellets are better but they literally throw them on the floor and look at me like I insulted their ancestors. Any conversion tips that actually work?
Hang in there! It gets better. My blue and gold macaw went through this too.
My vet in Brampton suggested getting a kitchen scale and weighing them weekly to track health and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.
BST in Mississauga took such good care of my bird. Best bird sitting service in the GTA by far.
Been thinking about adopting a rescue instead of buying from a breeder. Any experiences with rescue birds in Ontario? What should I expect in terms of behavioral challenges? Which rescue organizations do you recommend?
Following up on my earlier comment — I tried what you suggested and it actually worked! My Amazon parrot is doing so much better. Thank you!
