New toy introduction — my bird is terrified

Every time I put a new toy in the cage my Pionus freaks out and won't go near it for days. I've tried leaving it near the cage first, playing with it myself, everything. How do you introduce new toys?

What worked for me was adding a full-spectrum Arcadia UV light near the cage. Took about a week but my lovebird responded really well to it.

You're clearly a caring bird owner — the fact you're asking for help shows that. Your bird is lucky to have you.

My Tweety went through a phase like this around 8 months. I was terrified but it passed. Birds are weird sometimes lol.

Update: took everyone's advice and things are improving. Raja is slowly coming around. This forum is the best.
