Puzzle toys for smart birds
My Senegal parrot is too smart for most toys — figures them out in 5 minutes and then gets bored. What are the most challenging puzzle/foraging toys you've found? I need to keep that big brain occupied!
Interesting take! I see your point but I've had a completely different experience. My zebra finch actually...
My lineolated parakeet did this too! Turned out it was because of insufficient UV light exposure, especially in Canadian winters. Once I addressed that, everything went back to normal.
My vet in Brampton suggested leaving the radio or TV on when I'm out — background noise helps and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.
I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to not enough quality sleep — they need 10-12 hours uninterrupted.
I went through this exact thing with my Hahn's macaw Sunny! It lasted about almost six weeks and then resolved on its own. Hang in there.
I could have written this post a year ago. Same situation, same frustration. Here's what I wish someone had told me: switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. Would have saved me weeks of stress.
This made my day honestly. Hahn's macaw owners are the best people. We're all just trying our best for our feathered kids.
