Welcome!! Looking forward to hearing more about your feathered friend. Don't be shy about asking questions!
This is peak umbrella cockatoo behavior honestly. They wake up and choose chaos every single day and we love them for it.
I've tried a bunch of brands and Zupreem is hands down the best value. My Noodle devours it.
Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing the type of water dish and just being really patient. They come around eventually.
Interesting take! I see your point but I've had a completely different experience. My zebra finch actually...
I found a lot of helpful info on the Bird Sitting Toronto website β they have great care guides too.
This happened to us last winter. I think the shorter days and dry heated air were the cause for my bird.
I joined a bird owners meetup group in the GTA β great way to get in-person advice and let the birds socialize. Check Facebook groups!
Totally normal, don't stress! Birds go through phases just like any other pet.
YES! This is exactly what I needed to read today. My Amazon parrot and I have been going through the same thing!
I struggled with this too until I started introducing new foods by eating them in front of the bird β monkey see monkey do. Now it's like a completely different bird.
When I had to travel, I used Bird Sitting Toronto and they were incredible with my caique. Daily updates with photos and everything.
Oh my bird did this for about over a month and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.
Anyone near Mississauga should check out the bird section at Amazon Canada β surprisingly good for the area.
This is one of those topics where I think there genuinely is no right answer. Both sides have valid points.
Great question! So in my experience with lovebird, this usually comes down to a few things. First, spending at minimum 2 hours of supervised out-of-cage time daily. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep β 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to jealousy of a new person, pet, or even object in the home because that was a huge factor for my Jade. Hope that helps!
My green cheek conure did this too! Turned out it was because of boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation. Once I addressed that, everything went back to normal.
Do you have other pets in the home? My lovebird started acting differently when we got a cat.
I've had my green cheek conure for about 3 years and I still struggle to read their body language. Eye pinning, tail fanning, feather fluffing β what does it all mean? Any good resources specific to this species?
Birds are basically tiny dinosaurs with attitude. My Maple has me completely trained at this point.
