Even though the windows are closed, my Hahn's macaw keeps trying to fly into them during out-of-cage time. I'm worried they'll hurt themselves. How do you handle this? Window stickers? Keep curtains closed?

What kind of cage setup do you have? Sometimes the environment is a factor.

Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing their sleep schedule and just being really patient. They come around eventually.

Following up on my earlier comment β€” I tried what you suggested and it actually worked! My sun conure is doing so much better. Thank you!

My Buddy went through a phase like this around 4 years. I was terrified but it passed. Birds are weird sometimes lol.

Have you noticed any other changes? When my Senegal parrot did this they were also being unusually clingy.

Okay but counterpoint β€” what about birds that are the complete opposite? My umbrella cockatoo breaks every rule lol.

One thing that really helped was adding foraging opportunities to at least 3 different spots in the cage. Give it a try β€” can't hurt!

I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to dry winter air from forced-air heating.
