I've tried a bunch of brands and Goldenfeast is hands down the best value. My Ruby devours it.
Welcome to the forum! Great to have another bird lover from the GTA. Your Senegal parrot sounds adorable β what's their personality like?
If you're in Etobicoke, check out the avian vet on Yonge St. They're amazing with zebra finch specifically.
I remember when my umbrella cockatoo went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.
Same here! Glad it's not just me lol.
Your bird is in good hands. The fact that you're researching this shows how much you care.
Someone told me you can potty train a budgie to go on command or at least go in a designated spot. Is this real?? Because I am SO tired of being pooped on every 20 minutes. Maple has impeccable timing β always right after I put on clean clothes.
Bookmarking this thread! So much great info. This is why I keep coming back to this forum.
I just snorted coffee out of my nose reading this. My Amazon parrot is looking at me like I've lost it.
Looking for a good avian vet near Vaughan. My regular vet doesn't seem super comfortable with birds and I want someone who actually specializes. Bonus if they do home visits!

Hi! I'm new here but definitely not new to birds. My Indian Ringneck Mochi has been my companion for 3 years and I honestly can't imagine life without them. Just moved to Roncesvalles recently and looking to connect with other bird owners in the area. Happy to be here!
If I look at my phone for more than 30 seconds, Biscuit marches over and sits ON the screen. They've accidentally liked posts, called contacts, and once placed an Amazon order. I now have to keep my phone face down or deal with a jealous African Grey. Relate?
I have a similar story. My green cheek conure used to do the exact same thing. I remember being SO frustrated until one day it just clicked. Patience is truly the key with birds.
How old is your bird? That might explain it β my Pionus went through something similar around 5 years.

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is stuffing paper towel rolls with treats for foraging. A lot of people also recommend reading "The Parrot Problem Solver" by Barbara Heidenreich. My avian vet in Scarborough also suggested checking for the cage being in a high-traffic or drafty location which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck β feel free to DM me if you have questions!
I actually disagree with this. In my experience with my blue and gold macaw, the opposite was true. But I know every bird is different.

After a recent health scare, I realized I have no emergency plan for my sun conure if something happens to me. Does anyone have a buddy system or emergency contact specifically for their birds? How do you set this up?
