Breeders vs rescues — an honest conversation
I see a lot of judgment when someone buys from a breeder vs adopts. I got my Indian Ringneck from a reputable breeder and I also volunteer at a rescue. Both have their place. Can we have a non-judgmental discussion about the pros and cons of each?
So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist. A lot of people also recommend making sure there are no drafts near the cage. My avian vet in Milton also suggested checking for hormonal season — spring is brutal which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck — feel free to DM me if you have questions!
Yes!! My Skittles does this too. green cheek conure owners can relate.
I struggled with this too until I started using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist. Now it's like a completely different bird.
Oh my bird did this for about a few days and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.
Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing the cage liner material and just being really patient. They come around eventually.
