Just joined! I have a beautiful Pionus named Peaches and we live in Hamilton. I spend way too much time talking to my bird and taking photos of them. Looking to learn more about bird care, nutrition, and training from people who actually know what they're talking about. Nice to meet you all!

I'd suggest trying keeping a super consistent daily routine β€” birds thrive on predictability. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.

Great question! So in my experience with Quaker parrot, this usually comes down to a few things. First, removing mirrors from the cage β€” can cause hormonal or aggressive behavior. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep β€” 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to the cage being in a high-traffic or drafty location because that was a huge factor for my Pickle. Hope that helps!

My vet in High Park suggested switching from seed to Harrison's pellets gradually over 2 weeks and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.

I've done a ton of research on this because my green cheek conure had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is a change in routine or schedule. What worked for us was positive reinforcement with their favorite treat every time they do the right thing. I also started joining an online support group for Senegal parrot owners and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

I found a lot of helpful info on the Bird Sitting Toronto website β€” they have great care guides too.
