My budgie is judging my cooking again

Every time I cook, Pistachio sits on top of the fridge and watches with this intensely disapproving expression. When I drop something or burn something they make this little disappointed chirp. I am being critiqued by a creature that eats pellets. Anyone else feel watched in their own kitchen?

Have you tried spending at minimum 2 hours of supervised out-of-cage time daily? That's what solved this issue for us. Game changer honestly.

Second vote for BST. They boarded my budgie last summer and I could tell Pistachio was well cared for when I picked them up. Total peace of mind.

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is target training first, then building up to step-up. A lot of people also recommend rotating toys weekly so they always have something "new". My avian vet in Oakville also suggested checking for boredom from lack of enrichment and mental stimulation which can sometimes be an underlying factor. YES! This is exactly what I needed to read today. My Indian Ringneck and I have been going through the same thing!

Been thinking about this thread all week. I've tried a few of the suggestions and using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist was the game changer for us.
