The dramatic death scene my lineolated parakeet performs daily

Every evening, Sky flips upside down in my hand, goes completely limp, and closes their eyes. The first time they did this I PANICKED and almost called the emergency vet. Turns out they just... like being held upside down? lineolated parakeet are so weird. Does your bird have a weird quirk?

Okay but counterpoint — what about birds that are the complete opposite? My lineolated parakeet breaks every rule lol.

YES! This is exactly what I needed to read today. My lineolated parakeet and I have been going through the same thing!

One thing that really helped was putting a bird lamp on a 12/12 timer to simulate natural daylight cycles. Give it a try — can't hurt!

I'd suggest trying switching from seed to Harrison's pellets gradually over 2 weeks. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.

Been thinking about this thread all week. I've tried a few of the suggestions and positive reinforcement with their favorite treat every time they do the right thing was the game changer for us.

I just snorted coffee out of my nose reading this. My lineolated parakeet is looking at me like I've lost it.
