Hey everyone! I'm from Newmarket and I just brought home my first bird ever β a budgie named Lucky. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.
I showed this post to my bird and they looked at me with zero remorse. They know what they're doing.
Hey welcome! You'll love this community. Feel free to ask anything, everyone here is super helpful!
My Hahn's macaw Maple did the cutest thing today. I was on a work call and they started mimicking my "uh-huh, yeah, definitely" in my exact voice. My colleague asked if there was an echo. I died laughing. Anyone else have funny stories?
Same here! Glad it's not just me lol.

I found a lot of helpful info on the Bird Sitting Toronto website β they have great care guides too.

Hi everyone! I recently adopted a rescue Indian Ringneck from a shelter near Kitchener. Their name is Coco (the shelter named them but it stuck). They're a bit shy and don't trust easily β no idea what their previous situation was. I want to give them the absolute best life possible. Any tips for helping a rescue bird settle in and learn to trust again?

LOVE this post! More of this energy please. The bird community needs more positive threads like this.
Welcome to the forum! Great to have another bird lover from the GTA. Your canary sounds adorable β what's their personality like?
I feel like my Pionus either eats like a truck or barely touches their food depending on the day. What's a normal amount? I free-feed pellets and offer fresh food twice a day. Am I doing this right?
What does their diet look like? Sometimes these things are diet-related.
Oh my bird did this for about about a month and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.
If you're in Etobicoke, check out the avian vet on Hurontario St. They're amazing with Hahn's macaw specifically.
Hmm, I'm on the fence about this one. Part of me agrees but then I think about my experience with Paco and it doesn't quite line up.
My umbrella cockatoo is losing SO many feathers right now. The bottom of the cage looks like a pillow exploded. First time going through a molt with this bird and I'm a bit worried. Is this normal?
Revisiting this thread because I have more info now. After talking to my vet, they confirmed exactly what people here said. This community knows their stuff.
