This happened to us last winter. I think the shorter days and dry heated air were the cause for my bird.
Oh my bird did this for about about 10 days and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.
I feel like my parrotlet either eats like a truck or barely touches their food depending on the day. What's a normal amount? I free-feed pellets and offer fresh food twice a day. Am I doing this right?
Which avian vet do you go to? I'm looking for a good one near Etobicoke.
Same here! Glad it's not just me lol.
My advice would be covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Went through the same thing with my Amazon parrot last year.
I went through this exact thing with my canary Jasper! It lasted about a couple weeks and then resolved on its own. Hang in there.
Hey everyone! I'm from Oshawa and I just brought home my first bird ever β a lovebird named Buddy. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.
Every single noon, my lineolated parakeet goes absolutely nuts screaming. I live in a condo in Hamilton and my neighbours are starting to complain. Any advice on reducing the volume without punishing them?
This reminds me of when I first got Pistachio. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.
Been thinking about this thread all week. I've tried a few of the suggestions and switching from seed to Harrison's pellets gradually over 2 weeks was the game changer for us.
Update: took everyone's advice and things are improving. Clover is slowly coming around. This forum is the best.
It's been raining for days in Vaughan and my African Grey is losing their mind from boredom. We've done every foraging toy, training session, and YouTube video in the playbook. What do you do on endless grey days to keep your bird entertained? I'm running out of ideas and Captain is about to redecorate my walls.
Welcome! I remember being a new bird owner and this kind of community helped SO much. Excited to have you!
This reminds me of when I first got Ruby. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.
Welcome to the forum! Great to have another bird lover from the GTA. Your Amazon parrot sounds adorable β what's their personality like?
Okay but counterpoint β what about birds that are the complete opposite? My blue and gold macaw breaks every rule lol.
It took me a while to figure this out with my bird too. Don't be too hard on yourself β you're learning!
Hey everyone! I'm from Newmarket and I just brought home my first bird ever β a budgie named Lucky. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.
I showed this post to my bird and they looked at me with zero remorse. They know what they're doing.
