Cage setup tour — finally happy with it
After months of tweaking, I think I finally nailed the perfect cage setup for my canary. Multiple levels of natural wood perches at different heights, 3 foraging stations, a sleeping tent in the back corner, and a designated shredding zone. Captain actually seems content now. What does your ideal setup look like?
So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is putting treats inside paper cups, folded paper, or tissue for foraging. A lot of people also recommend setting up a webcam so I could check on them during the day. My avian vet in downtown Toronto also suggested checking for stress from loud noises like construction which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck — feel free to DM me if you have questions!
One thing that really helped was using a stainless steel cage with proper bar spacing for the species. Give it a try — can't hurt!
