Been thinking about adopting a rescue instead of buying from a breeder. Any experiences with rescue birds in Ontario? What should I expect in terms of behavioral challenges? Which rescue organizations do you recommend?

This reminds me of when I first got Jasper. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.

Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My Pionus finally stopped night frights every few days after I tried adding foraging opportunities to at least 3 different spots in the cage.

Oh man, this brings back memories. When we were dealing with this with Mango, I thought we'd never get through it. Now it's just a funny memory. It gets better, I promise.

Following up on my earlier comment β€” I tried what you suggested and it actually worked! My Senegal parrot is doing so much better. Thank you!

Hmm, I'm on the fence about this one. Part of me agrees but then I think about my experience with Pistachio and it doesn't quite line up.
