PSA for anyone who doesn't know — nonstick pans can KILL birds. I found out the hard way when I accidentally overheated a pan and my caique got sick. Thankfully caught it in time. Please, if you have birds, switch to stainless steel or cast iron.

Birds are basically tiny dinosaurs with attitude. My Kiwi has me completely trained at this point

There's a great bird supply store in Parkdale that carries exactly what you need. I go there all the time.

Oh my bird did this for about almost six weeks and I tried everything. Honestly, time was the biggest factor. They just grew out of it.

I've done a ton of research on this because my umbrella cockatoo had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is a change in routine or schedule. What worked for us was switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. I also started joining an online support group for zebra finch owners and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

This happened to us last winter. I think the shorter days and dry heated air were the cause for my bird.

What worked for me was target training first, then building up to step-up. Took about a week but my Hahn's macaw responded really well to it.
