Hey all! I've kept birds for over 10 years — started with budgies and currently have a green cheek conure named Biscuit. I live in downtown Toronto and found this forum through the BST website. Seems like a great community with solid advice. Happy to help answer questions and share what I've learned over the years!

Welcome to the forum! Great to have another bird lover from the GTA. Your Indian Ringneck sounds adorable — what's their personality like?

There's a great bird supply store in High Park that carries exactly what you need. I go there all the time.

Second vote for BST. They boarded my African Grey last summer and I could tell Tango was well cared for when I picked them up. Total peace of mind.

Revisiting this thread because I have more info now. After talking to my vet, they confirmed exactly what people here said. This community knows their stuff.

I've tried a bunch of brands and Hagen Tropican is hands down the best value. My Mango devours it.

I've done a ton of research on this because my cockatiel had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is a change in routine or schedule. What worked for us was switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. I also started giving warm food (like a warmed mash) on cold Toronto mornings and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.

This made my day honestly. blue and gold macaw owners are the best people. We're all just trying our best for our feathered kids.
