I have a single caique and I'm home most of the day but I still feel guilty when I need to leave. Do they get lonely? Would getting a second bird help or just cause drama?

Oh man, this brings back memories. When we were dealing with this with Captain, I thought we'd never get through it. Now it's just a funny memory. It gets better, I promise.

LOVE this post! More of this energy please. The bird community needs more positive threads like this.

For this I'd highly recommend Lafeber NutriBerries. My Quaker parrot loves it and my vet approved it too.

This reminds me of when I first got Rio. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.

This is so true. Had the exact same experience with Gizmo.

So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is putting treats inside paper cups, folded paper, or tissue for foraging. A lot of people also recommend giving warm food (like a warmed mash) on cold Toronto mornings. My avian vet in Liberty Village also suggested checking for a dietary deficiency, especially calcium or vitamin A which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck β€” feel free to DM me if you have questions!
