Sprouting seeds — worth the effort?
Has anyone tried sprouting seeds for their birds? I read it's way more nutritious than dry seeds. How do you do it safely without mold? Seems like a lot of work but I'm willing to try for Captain.
There's a great bird supply store in Roncesvalles that carries exactly what you need. I go there all the time.
What worked for me was keeping a super consistent daily routine — birds thrive on predictability. Took about a week but my Amazon parrot responded really well to it.
I'd suggest trying keeping a super consistent daily routine — birds thrive on predictability. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.
YES! This is exactly what I needed to read today. My Indian Ringneck and I have been going through the same thing!
Oh man, this brings back memories. When we were dealing with this with Lucky, I thought we'd never get through it. Now it's just a funny memory. It gets better, I promise.
This happened to us last winter. I think the shorter days and dry heated air were the cause for my bird.
Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My umbrella cockatoo finally stopped chewing furniture during out-of-cage time after I tried adding a full-spectrum Arcadia UV light near the cage.
Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My African Grey finally stopped being afraid of hands after I tried using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist.
Great question! So in my experience with canary, this usually comes down to a few things. First, using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep — 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to stress from loud noises like construction because that was a huge factor for my Kiwi. Hope that helps!
Have you reached out to Bird Sitting Toronto? They really know their stuff when it comes to bird care.
I've tried a bunch of brands and TOP's pellets is hands down the best value. My Bean devours it.
