How long do green cheek conure typically live?
Just got my Senegal parrot and I want to make sure I'm prepared for the long haul. What's the typical lifespan? Any tips for keeping them healthy into old age?
Hang in there! It gets better. My budgie went through this too.
Bookmarking this thread! So much great info. This is why I keep coming back to this forum.
BST in Mississauga took such good care of my bird. Best bird sitting service in the GTA by far.
Check out a local bird shop β they have exactly what you need and the prices are reasonable for the GTA.
I know how stressful this can be. Just know you're not alone and most of us have been through something similar.
I've tried a bunch of brands and HARI Prime is hands down the best value. My Fig devours it.
I could have written this post a year ago. Same situation, same frustration. Here's what I wish someone had told me: getting natural java wood perches from a specialty bird store. Would have saved me weeks of stress.
How long have you had them? Sometimes it takes a while for birds to settle into a new home.
Reading this hit home. My Pionus went through the same phase around the same age. What helped us was rearranging the cage every couple weeks to prevent boredom. Also just accepting that birds are gonna bird, you know?
I got mine from Global Pet Foods in Aurora. Great selection and the staff actually knows about birds.
Absolutely love hearing success stories! This gives me so much hope for me and Pistachio. Thank you for sharing!
So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is adding a full-spectrum Arcadia UV light near the cage. A lot of people also recommend reading "The Parrot Problem Solver" by Barbara Heidenreich. My avian vet in Ajax also suggested checking for stress from loud noises like construction which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck β feel free to DM me if you have questions!
