My green cheek conure just figured out how to open their cage latch. I'm both impressed and terrified. What's the smartest thing your bird has done? I swear they understand way more than we think.
Yes!! My Zazu does this too. parrotlet owners can relate.
Couldn't agree more. This has been my experience as well.
I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to territorial behavior β especially common during breeding season.
I went through this exact thing with my African Grey Coco! It lasted about two to three weeks and then resolved on its own. Hang in there.
I'd suggest trying adding a full-spectrum Arcadia UV light near the cage. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.
How long have you had them? Sometimes it takes a while for birds to settle into a new home.
My vet in Richmond Hill suggested using a shower perch so they can bathe with warm mist and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.
This reminds me of when I first got Mochi. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.
