Rescued a budgie — need all the advice I can get!
Hi everyone! I recently adopted a rescue Senegal parrot from a shelter near Newmarket. Their name is Oliver (the shelter named them but it stuck). They're a bit shy and don't trust easily — no idea what their previous situation was. I want to give them the absolute best life possible. Any tips for helping a rescue bird settle in and learn to trust again?
Welcome!! Looking forward to hearing more about your feathered friend. Don't be shy about asking questions!
Nice to meet you! Always great to connect with fellow bird owners. You're going to fit right in here!
I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to territorial behavior — especially common during breeding season.
This is one of those topics where I think there genuinely is no right answer. Both sides have valid points.
I switched to TOP's pellets last year and haven't looked back. My sun conure's feathers have never looked better.
Check out Ren's Pets — they have exactly what you need and the prices are reasonable for the GTA.
