Hi from the Danforth — proud parrotlet parent!
Hello! Been lurking on this forum for a bit and finally decided to make an account and participate. I've had my canary Ruby for about 7 years now. Always nice to connect with other bird people in the GTA — most people I know think I'm crazy for having a bird lol. Excited to be here!
Nice to meet you! Always great to connect with fellow bird owners. You're going to fit right in here!
Welcome to the forum! Great to have another bird lover from the GTA. Your blue and gold macaw sounds adorable — what's their personality like?
Welcome!! Looking forward to hearing more about your feathered friend. Don't be shy about asking questions!
Couldn't agree more. This has been my experience as well.
My Quaker parrot did this too! Turned out it was because of jealousy of a new person, pet, or even object in the home. Once I addressed that, everything went back to normal.
Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My African Grey finally stopped biting guests after I tried putting treats inside paper cups, folded paper, or tissue for foraging.
Check out Ren's Pets — they have exactly what you need and the prices are reasonable for the GTA.
I have a similar story. My green cheek conure used to do the exact same thing. I remember being SO frustrated until one day it just clicked. Patience is truly the key with birds.
