I need to travel for a week and I've never left my parrotlet with anyone before. The separation anxiety is real — and it's MINE, not the bird's. What should I prepare? What info should I give the sitter?

I went through this exact thing with my canary Storm! It lasted about two to three weeks and then resolved on its own. Hang in there.

LOVE this post! More of this energy please. The bird community needs more positive threads like this.

What worked for me was putting treats inside paper cups, folded paper, or tissue for foraging. Took about a week but my parrotlet responded really well to it.

Can we start a support group for this? Because SAME.

Great question! So in my experience with budgie, this usually comes down to a few things. First, rearranging the cage every couple weeks to prevent boredom. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep — 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to a dietary deficiency, especially calcium or vitamin A because that was a huge factor for my Raja. Hope that helps!
