Hey everyone! I'm from the Danforth and I just brought home my first bird ever β€” a cockatiel named Tango. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Been reading everything I can find online but there's so much conflicting info. Any beginner tips from experienced owners would be amazing! Looking forward to being part of this community.

What does their diet look like? Sometimes these things are diet-related.

One thing that really helped was switching to stainless steel water bowls and changing water twice daily. Give it a try β€” can't hurt!

There's a great little shop in Leslieville that specializes in parrot supplies. Way better selection than the big chains.

LOVE this post! More of this energy please. The bird community needs more positive threads like this.

Revisiting this thread because I have more info now. After talking to my vet, they confirmed exactly what people here said. This community knows their stuff.

For this I'd highly recommend Roudybush. My parrotlet loves it and my vet approved it too.

Been thinking about this thread all week. I've tried a few of the suggestions and removing mirrors from the cage β€” can cause hormonal or aggressive behavior was the game changer for us.
