6-month update on my new parrotlet

Six months in and I can't imagine life without Tiki. When I first got them they were hand-shy and wouldn't make eye contact. Now they greet me every morning with a head bob, eat from my hand, and even started mimicking my laugh. To everyone in the early bonding phase: it gets SO much better.

This reminds me of when I first got Sunny. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.

I struggled with this too until I started getting a kitchen scale and weighing them weekly to track health. Now it's like a completely different bird.

Couldn't agree more. This has been my experience as well.

A friend who's had birds for 20 years told me to try getting natural java wood perches from a specialty bird store. I was skeptical but it actually worked.
