TIL about blue and gold macaw lifespan and I'm shook
I knew parrots lived long but I just looked up actual documented lifespans and some Senegal parrot have lived over 40 years in captivity. My Pistachio could outlive me. Has anyone here actually thought about a plan for their bird if something happens to them? This just got real.
I've tried a bunch of brands and Harrison's pellets is hands down the best value. My Captain devours it.
I could have written this post a year ago. Same situation, same frustration. Here's what I wish someone had told me: target training first, then building up to step-up. Would have saved me weeks of stress.
Just wanted to come back and say the advice in this thread WORKED. My Hahn's macaw finally stopped refusing to go back in the cage after I tried putting a bird lamp on a 12/12 timer to simulate natural daylight cycles.
LOVE this post! More of this energy please. The bird community needs more positive threads like this.
