Hi from Barrie — proud Eclectus parent!
Hello! Been lurking on this forum for a bit and finally decided to make an account and participate. I've had my Pionus Jasper for about 10 years now. Always nice to connect with other bird people in the GTA — most people I know think I'm crazy for having a bird lol. Excited to be here!
Welcome to the forum! Great to have another bird lover from the GTA. Your African Grey sounds adorable — what's their personality like?
When I had to travel, I used Bird Sitting Toronto and they were incredible with my umbrella cockatoo. Daily updates with photos and everything.
For this I'd highly recommend Roudybush. My Hahn's macaw loves it and my vet approved it too.
This reminds me of when I first got Storm. I was so overwhelmed but looking back, those early days were actually really special. The bond building phase is tough but beautiful.
I've done a ton of research on this because my caique had the same issue. Here's what I learned: the most common cause is insufficient UV light exposure, especially in Canadian winters. What worked for us was keeping a super consistent daily routine — birds thrive on predictability. I also started rotating toys weekly so they always have something "new" and noticed improvement within a week. It's a process but it gets better.
