Controversial: Harrison's pellets are overrated
I know Harrison's is the gold standard that everyone recommends but at $40+ a bag and with my budgie barely tolerating the taste, I switched to Lafeber NutriBerries and my bird is happier AND healthier at their last checkup. Anyone else feel like brand loyalty has overtaken actual nutrition science?
So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is covering the cage partially at night for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. A lot of people also recommend making sure there are no drafts near the cage. My avian vet in Mississauga also suggested checking for molting β they get uncomfortable and cranky which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck β feel free to DM me if you have questions!
Couldn't agree more. This has been my experience as well.
I got mine from Amazon Canada in Kitchener. Great selection and the staff actually knows about birds.
How old is your bird? That might explain it β my budgie went through something similar around 8 months.
I have a similar story. My Senegal parrot used to do the exact same thing. I remember being SO frustrated until one day it just clicked. Patience is truly the key with birds.
