Sprouting seeds — worth the effort?
Has anyone tried sprouting seeds for their birds? I read it's way more nutritious than dry seeds. How do you do it safely without mold? Seems like a lot of work but I'm willing to try for Sunny.
Exactly my thoughts. You said it better than I could have.
What worked for me was leaving the radio or TV on when I'm out — background noise helps. Took about a week but my Hahn's macaw responded really well to it.
I went through this exact thing with my budgie Peaches! It lasted about about 10 days and then resolved on its own. Hang in there.
So I had this exact problem about a year ago. Let me share what I learned. The key thing is leaving the radio or TV on when I'm out — background noise helps. A lot of people also recommend adding more variety in perch textures and sizes. My avian vet in Richmond Hill also suggested checking for not enough quality sleep — they need 10-12 hours uninterrupted which can sometimes be an underlying factor. Good luck — feel free to DM me if you have questions!
My vet in Markham suggested adding foraging opportunities to at least 3 different spots in the cage and I noticed a change within the first week. Highly recommend.
This happened to us last winter. I think the shorter days and dry heated air were the cause for my bird.
Interesting take! I see your point but I've had a completely different experience. My zebra finch actually...
