How to bird-proof a room for sitting

I agreed to watch my friend's caique for two weeks. I don't have birds — what do I need to do to make my place safe? I know zero about bird care and I'm terrified of doing something wrong.

My advice would be rearranging the cage every couple weeks to prevent boredom. Went through the same thing with my Amazon parrot last year.
