Best perches — natural wood options?

Want to replace the dowel perches that came with my canary's cage. Where do you source natural wood perches in the GTA? Any safe woods I can collect from outside? What about rope perches — safe or not?

So what I ended up doing was introducing new foods by eating them in front of the bird — monkey see monkey do. Within a few days there was a noticeable improvement. Definitely worth trying.
