TIL birds can't smell but CAN taste — mind blown

Had a conversation with my vet in Brampton today and learned that while birds have minimal sense of smell, they actually CAN taste — and some species have more taste buds than others. Explains why my Pionus is so picky! What's something about birds you learned recently that blew your mind?

I remember when my lovebird went through this phase. I was so worried but my vet said it's actually really common.
