I know everyone says keeping birds in their own environment is ideal, but honestly? A good boarding facility with experienced staff who monitor them all day is way better than a random sitter who checks in twice. My budgie actually thrived at BST when we went on vacation.

Dealt with this for months. What finally worked was changing how I approach the cage and just being really patient. They come around eventually.

Lol my Quaker parrot does the exact same thing. I've just accepted that the bird runs the house now. I'm just the food delivery service.

I've had birds for 15 years and I've seen this many times. In my experience it usually comes down to stress from loud noises like construction.
