My Eclectus just laid an egg! Now what?
Completely unexpected — my supposedly male Amazon parrot just laid an egg! I'm freaking out a bit. What do I do with it? Do I leave it or remove it? Will this keep happening?
I'd suggest trying removing mirrors from the cage — can cause hormonal or aggressive behavior. My avian vet recommended it and it made a huge difference.
One thing that really helped was offering chop first thing in the morning when they're hungriest. Give it a try — can't hurt!
Great question! So in my experience with Senegal parrot, this usually comes down to a few things. First, clicker training for 10-15 minutes a day. Second, make sure they're getting enough sleep — 12 hours of uninterrupted dark sleep is crucial. And third, pay attention to being moved to a new cage or new room because that was a huge factor for my Snowball. Hope that helps!
