Seasonal enrichment ideas for Canadian winters

It's cold, it's dark, and my lineolated parakeet seems bored out of their mind. What enrichment activities do you do during the long Canadian winter months? We can't do outdoor time for half the year so I need indoor ideas.

What worked for us was removing mirrors from the cage — can cause hormonal or aggressive behavior.
